// Traffic Management

// Introduction

The Barwick and Scholes Community Fund has no involvement in traffic management for the festival and this page is purely for guidance for local residents.
Please do not contact the Barwick and Scholes Community Fund, the Parish Council or the Parish Clerk regarding traffic management as this is not our area of responsibility and we are unable to address any issues or concerns.

Any enquiries, comments or complaints concerning traffic management for the festival should instead be addressed with Festival Republic.

// Diversions and closures

A number of diversions, road closures and temporary speed restrictions will be in operation in the parish during the festival. These will affect both local journeys and access to/from local roads ( especially the A1 and A64).
Traffic

// Traffic Management plan

The event organisers Festival Republic work with the following organisations to ensure that festival traffic runs as smoothly as possible:

Leeds City Council
National Highways
West Yorkshire Police
Various Parish Councils
Local Councillors

A traffic management plan will be in operation for the festival and this can be viewed on the Leeds Festival website. Please be aware that the plan may change from year to year (it is worth checking the plan every year to see if there have been any changes which may affect you).

// Leaflet / Communication

A hard copy of the traffic management plan will also be posted through the letterbox of Parish residents in advance of the festival. This is usually distributed alongside the Parish Council newsletter by volunteers working on behalf of Barwick and Elmet Parish Council. Please note that due to the nature of distribution, some residents will receive this a few days earlier/later than others.

// Plan your journey ahead

The Leeds Festival attracts many tens of thousands of guests over the August bank holiday, and (as many residents will know) traffic on local roads can be heavy (especially during peak periods).
The best way to avoid encountering travel related issues during the festival is to plan ahead. We strongly recommend that you read the local traffic management plan and familiarise yourself with the planned closures and diversions. Where possible, please also consider changing the time of your journey to avoid peak festival times (especially  Friday and Monday).

// Journey times

Please allow extra time for any local journeys by road during the festival period. In  addition to the traffic management measures the volume of festival traffic (combined with bank holiday traffic) mean that a journey that normally takes a few minutes is likely to take considerably longer.
